Constitution & By-Laws

This organization shall be governed by the Rules & Regulations established by the Red Hook Central School District, the Athletic Department and the Administration of Red Hook High School. The enclosed information is a highlight of information provided for Varsity Club members.

Purpose of the Red Hook Varsity Club:

1. To give recognition to Varsity Athletes who have earned a Varsity letter through their participation in the High School athletic program.

2. To promote athletic activities at Red Hook High School.

3. To enable its members to participate in social, athletic and financial activities within the club, school or the community. (Community service is looked at highly when applying for future education, scholarships & grants.)

4. To promote high standards of sportsmanship and fair play in all high school athletic activities.

5. Engage in Leadership training & practices

Membership in the Red Hook Varsity Club:

1. Membership is open to all students having earned one (1) Varsity Athletic Letter at Red Hook High School.

2. Students seeking membership must obtain an application from the Red Hook Varsity Club advisor.

3. Following membership, all students must abide by all rules and policies of said club.

Meetings of Red Hook Varsity Club:

1. Regular meetings shall be held on designated days established by the advisor and club officers. Some Varsity Club correspondence will be held via electronic communication.

2. Special meetings shall be called for the purpose of organizing special events sponsored by the Red Hook Varsity Club.

Red Hook Varsity Club Executive Council:

The elected Executive Council of the club shall have the following roles and responsibilities that will be performed  by each on a rotating basis (with the exception of Treasurer, which will be the only standing “officer”)

  • Lead Council - Preside & organize all meetings and activities.
  • 1st Vice Council - Assist Lead Council & preside over meetings in the absence of the Lead Council.
  • 2nd Vice Council - Assist Lead Council & preside over meetings in the absence of the Lead Council.
  • Secretary- Maintain records of all meetings and attendance.
  • Treasurer-Maintain records of all financial transactions of the club, be actively engaged in financial transactions & activities
    • Council Members shall serve for a period of one school year.
    • Council Members are nominated at the first meeting in May.
    • Council Members are elected at the second meeting in May.
    • Council Members will assume duties beginning the first meeting of the next school year.
    • Council Members must be a Junior or Senior and have been a member of the club for 1 full year (after our inaugural year)

Red Hook Varsity Club Code of Conduct:

  1. Membership in good standing shall be to follow the Red Hook Athletic Department Code of Conduct, follow the established Constitution and By-Laws of the Red Hook Varsity Club, and participation in a varsity athletic program.
  2. A member may be removed from the club for the following reasons, but not limited to:
    1. Conduct unbecoming of a member.
    2. Violation of the Athletic Code of Conduct in reference to drugs, alcohol, tobacco, social media abuse, bullying, etc.
    3. Quitting of an athletic team without justified reason.
    4. Being dismissed from a team.
    5. Athletic Director, High School Administration disciplinary actions/school violations.
  3. If a member is dismissed from the Red Hook Varsity Club, they automatically forfeit all rewards and benefits received from the club.
